Political Turmoil? Are you serious....

I live in a beautiful country, filled with beautiful people who are generous and giving and they care about each other and what not... I live in Pakistan. Yeah right! and I didn't lie about the country being beautiful at all. The most prominent thing about us is that 'we do what we do!' and if you have a problem with that then deal with it.. and soon or we'll deal with you.

Another thing that we are really famous for is apparently 'factories'. We have a factory for everything: The factory of politicians is particularly interesting. We have been making them like crazy. In fact the process was so intense that the Quality and Control guys left right after the first batch and we have been producing defected pieces ever since. Surprised enough? lets talk about big-fat-lies; we sir specialize in production of that particular commodity and we like it a lot too. Its like a bestseller.
Last but not least we have a very special factory that makes Governments. That is the factory that i wanna talk about. Ever since our freedom (though i don't like to call it that) we have been engaged in making a new government every once in a while; be it democracy or dictatorship we love them according to our taste at the moment. We fight hard for it. We get out on the roads, break stuff, chant slogans. We absolutely don't care about anything but a new government and then we get it how we want it 'cz dats how we roll'.

So........
Democracy is our system of choice these days. Everybody loves democracy! We just love it because it gives us lots of rights (which we don't know) and it gives us access to justice (fair and speedy) and above all it gives us right to say what ever the hell we want out loud (even if we don't understand a word of it) . Yet no one wants it to actually work. As strange as it sounds it is true. We never question why we don't want it to work (or simply put why it doesn't work?). Here is why i think it's happening . I want a tree in my house with a big shade. I know that the shade will have a lot of uses. It will block the sunlight and keep the place from not heating up. It will stop the rain so that i can enjoy while sitting under it and on and on. I know all the uses of this big shade tree and I am so caught up in the idea that I have utterly and totally ignored how I am going to get this nature's miracle 'big shade tree'. Yes! how? finally i have moved up from 'why' to 'how'. I already feel proud of myself. Okay so, If i want a tree I have to put the seeds down in the soil first. and then water it, nourish it and then watch it grow so that i may enjoy it's shade when it's ready. With the passage of time I keep looking after it with the right additives to make it strong and keep it healthy. On the other hand, I cannot buy or borrow a tree and then forcefully fix it in my house to enjoy it's shade because it will keep dying as it has no roots in the soil and then I will have to bring a new one every once in a while. I don't know about you guys but i have a pretty good idea where i am going with all of this, so here it is. If we want democracy we have to breed it in our homes and schools. Teach our children what it means to be democratic. Teach them to respect each others opinion and on top of all that share with one another. We have to ask this question, are we democratic in our homes? Are we democratic in our schools? Sadly the answer will be in the negative. Put simply the 'democratic culture' is non-existent in our society.

Oh wait there is someone at the door... lemme see.... i think the Government factory guys are here and they look particularly unhappy for some reason. Imagine!
